What are we about?
“The Rock Youth Center”
The priority of the Rock Youth Center is to provide a safe, supervised and happy environment for the teenage demographic in Parsons and its surrounding areas. We will share and teach by example the Christian virtues of love and character by gathering Jesus-loving volunteers who will care for these young people as they spend time within our facility and at our events.
* At the Rock Youth Center, we focus on having a great and fantastically fun time. Enjoyment is our main front of outreach. Fun touches the heart in a way that some other ministries do not afford the time or environment for. This is primary in our mission’s identity. When we spend quality time with our teens, we have a very real and significant opportunity to reach them where they really are, and show a practical and real-life example of how to live for Jesus. This is our greatest contribution and our main ministry.
Things the Rock is NOT:
The Rock is “Not” a church.
The Rock is “Not” a youth group.
The Rock holds no bias toward or against any of our many diverse, Bible-believing denominations or church bodies. We are a “hub” in which believers from different churches can come together and have a great time enjoying each others company, and the essentials of our faith that we do share.
Not all ministries and services provide the exact same form of outreach. Please be aware of your job as a church, and the way that your job is not our job. We are not going to be a church. A church is not the only part of the outreach puzzle. We are grateful for the impact God allows us to make in our community, and the part of His puzzle that He has given to us. As such, we will not be a youth group. This means we will not spend the majority of every night speaking to the teens, delivering sermons. That is a crucial part of teaching and ministry, and one that we believe rests on the shoulders of our community’s churches. Rather, we PARTNER with you in reaching our youth in a way that many churches do not have the time to facilitate. By doing this, we are able to accomplish many important things. Mainly, we share Jesus with fun and community, mentor-ship and example. Secondly, we are able to cross many bridges to many different denominations without favoring or disrespecting the careful differences between churches. This is yet one more reason why we do not deliver lengthy messages in which it would be difficult to do without stepping on the toes of various denominations. We could not be fair to all of our community’s churches without taking this stance.
The Rock IS:
Fun!
Safe!
Supervised!
Involved!
Passionate!
Always looking for a way to be a place where Jesus is lifted up as Lord and our very best friend and confidant (something our teens really need to know about Him in this tough time of their lives.)
